{"id":7401,"date":"2020-05-14T12:04:46","date_gmt":"2020-05-14T11:04:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/londonwelsh.org\/connie\/"},"modified":"2020-05-14T12:04:46","modified_gmt":"2020-05-14T11:04:46","slug":"connie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/londonwelsh.org\/cy\/connie\/","title":{"rendered":"DYLAN DAY PROECT: Connie"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>This is a poem in response to <i>Do not go gentle into that good night.<\/i> It is about meeting an old friend again after they&#8217;ve gone in a town that&#8217;s completely familiar but totally changed all at once.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>It was inspired by a lovely old lady who recently passed away &#8211; she was widely regarded the last of the &#8216;old characters&#8217; of my hometown, New Quay. But of course, every generation has its characters and no matter how mush time passes, New Quay will always be a special place full of interesting people. It is Llareggub after all&#8230;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h2>Connie<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When it\u2019s time for us to meet again, I\u2019ll meet you<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the old pier,<\/p>\n<p>The sea blue and grey with dolphins<\/p>\n<p>And you\u2019ll be there<\/p>\n<p>Sitting on the breeze<\/p>\n<p>Smiling back at the old town<\/p>\n<p>Drinking in the days.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The characters are benches now,<\/p>\n<p>Though wild women still dance and shriek in the shadows<\/p>\n<p>And the strong and silent watch their flocks on the hill.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday and tomorrow<\/p>\n<p>In timeless tradition.<\/p>\n<p>Fish are fished<\/p>\n<p>And birds are watched,<\/p>\n<p>And on golden, chain-crossed sands<\/p>\n<p>Joy and laughter ripple,<\/p>\n<p>As all are children once again.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Nothing changes and nothing stays the same.<\/p>\n<p>Time ebbs and flows<\/p>\n<p>In and out with the tide.<\/p>\n<p>Be here with me<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the old pier.<\/p>\n<p>No time like the present.<\/p>\n<p>No time at all.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(By Kate O\u2019Connor)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a poem in response to Do not go gentle into that good night.
