Why now

While our cultural impact is strong, our infrastructure has reached a critical bottleneck. Our historic Arts & Crafts building no longer meets the standards expected of a public building in the 2020s – limiting access, sustainability and future growth.

To secure the Centre’s next chapter, we are preparing a capital appeal focused on two essential priorities:

Universal accessibility
Ensuring our front door is open to all, through step-free access and modern facilities that allow every visitor to participate with dignity.

Environmental sustainability
Upgrading the building to reduce its environmental impact and create a resilient, future-fit home for Welsh culture in London.

A credible partnership

The London Welsh Centre is a professionally managed charity, operating profitably and growing commercially since 2017. The Trustees have already committed significant internal resources to developing this programme of work, with further decisions to follow through the Centre’s governance structures.

Funding will be sought from trusts, grant-giving bodies, corporate partners and community fundraising.

As we approach St David’s Day 2026, the Trustees invite friends and supporters of the Centre to join this capital campaign – preserving our heritage while building a modern, accessible and sustainable platform for future generations.
