In the fifth talk in the Wales Matters series jointly organised by the Cymmrodorion, the London Welsh Centre and Wales in London, we will be hearing from Dr. Ifan Morgan Jones, a distinguished journalist, author, and academic whose contributions to Welsh culture and media have been transformative. With an impressive career spanning journalism and literature, Ifan brings a wealth of expertise and passion for promoting the Welsh language and heritage.

As the founder and editorial director of Nation Cymru, Ifan played a pivotal role in establishing one of Wales’s leading digital news platforms, which grew to reach an audience of over 1 million visitors per month. His dedication to fostering informed and engaged communities underscores his commitment to Wales’s cultural and democratic life.

Ifan’s academic credentials are equally impressive, having taught at Bangor University, where he inspired the next generation of journalists through modules on Digital Journalism, Media Law, and the Role of Media in Society.

In addition to his work in journalism, Ifan is a celebrated novelist, with several books to his name. His literary achievements include winning the prestigious Daniel Owen Memorial Prize at the National Eisteddfod.
