Our heroes
Caroline James
is a City of London and Clerkenwell and Islington tour guide, and every year she leads a new walking tour in London to places with Welsh connections.
After qualifying as a City of London Guide in 2003 Caroline decided to devise walks with Welsh connections in London. On her first Welsh walk in 2004 only one person turned up and last year over 50 people turned up!
She has led a different Welsh walk every year on the nearest Saturday to St David’s Day for the past 11 years. Since 2013 Caroline has given all proceeds from her walks to The London Welsh Centre, over £700 in all.
Caroline is a supporter of the Centre and is passionate about helping to keep it going. She is also in her third year of learning Welsh at the centre.
I love doing my walks because I enjoy celebrating being ‘Welsh in London’ and all those who’ve been there before me. I believe The London Welsh Centre plays a vital part in that. I was delighted to discover recently that my uncle, W Emlyn James, MBE (for involvement in Welsh drama), was in the Welsh Guards and spent time at the Centre during the War.
Diolch o galon Caroline, your support is so valued.
